Career Profile

As the sign above the door indicates, my name is Daniel Humann; I'm a designer and developer living and working in Denver, Colorado.

Previous Jobs

  • Computer Lab Tech
  • Graphic Designer
  • 3D Designer
  • User Interface Designer
  • Interactive Media Designer
  • Web Developer

Since 1997, I have been employed in the technology sector—specifically in the creative aspects of software and web development. Over the course of my career, I have contributed to the production of many custom solutions, several products and a myriad of collateral assets. These items were created for a disparate array of clients representing a broad cross section of business and industry.

Although my academic focus was design and computer graphics, the majority of my professional work has entailed an ever-increasing amount of technical development and programming. Since my humble beginnings as a graphic designer, my experience has grown from layout artist to 3D animator, virtual reality designer, interactive developer and programmer. As such, my experience is not exclusive to artistic erudition but also encompasses a diverse array of development skills.

My areas of expertise are visual media and Internet development. I excel in the creation of custom graphics, user interface design for software and web services, as well as the development of commercial web properties. This includes the programming of server-side functionality, extensible mark-up, visual styling and the creation of custom content.

In addition to my development skills, I also have a considerable amount of experience in 3D [CAD] design or what can be more effectively characterized as: 3D Visualization work. This involves the production of technical drawings (and photo-realistic renderings) which serve as the visual embodiment of an idea or invention. Many of my renderings have provided the visual support for U.S. Patent and Trademark applications.

Clientele

One of the greatest things about working in technology (or specifically web development) is that it touches almost every other industry in the world. Most contemporary businesses are striving for a "global presence" facilitated by the World Wide Web. This means that collateral must be built, information must be disseminated, and potential customers must be reached. These opportunities have allowed me to learn a great deal about a variety of industries and business models while helping clients to achieve these goals.

During a career which has spanned more than 10 years, I have worked with businesses of all sizes—from small business to Fortune 500 companies. This experience has encompassed everything from developing general marketing strategies to developing collateral of all types (e.g. print material, web sites, multimedia content) to assisting in the development of products and services. I feel that working in technology has made me more knowledgable not only of business itself but also about corporate needs, consumer habits, and the world in general.

Some of the many businesses and brands I've worked with are shown below:

Microsoft Lycos USWest (nka Qwest) Bell Atlantic (nka Verizon) Pepsi Frito Lay Fidelity Investments Verio Univision SANZ OIG ECT SoftSlate WiredHOT Texel Koibox Riptide GetLisa

Testimonials

If you want it done right, talk to Dan. I don't know anyone who's more expert in the ins and outs of HTML and CSS, including the latest standards and how they should be applied. When you combine that expertise with his commitment to producing quality work, it's quite something.

I have been fortunate to have worked with Daniel for the past eight years, and have been spoiled by his talents both as an artist and as a web developer. As my partner and Creative Director for WiredHot Media, working with him is a privilege. He is extremely creative, has a unique eye for asthetics and functionality, as well as being a stickler for standards.
